The Killeen Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of probationary police officer. Applications will be accepted until January 28, 2011 5:00pm.

There is nothing more disappointing than someone who have been hired by a local police department, sent to the police academy for training, but only to fail and be sent home. If you think that’s a shame think about the recruits who pay they own way through the academy, but only to flunk out. That’s probably a couple grand out the window. Idaho State Police has an announcement that’s rarely heard  these days: They’re hiring.
ISP will be filling 15 currently vacant positions.
The competition is fierce – nearly 1,000 candidates are expected to apply.
“It is not a job you take because you are unemployed. This is a very demanding job. It’s not for everyone,” said Captain Brian Zimmerman.
The hiring process takes six to seven months to complete. It includes extensive background checks and physical and psychological exams.
They’ll be accepting applications until November 21.
