There is nothing more important to an police officer than safety and control over a situation. A K9 companion is loyal, trustworthy and able to pick up clues that an officer may miss with the naked eye. These dogs can sniff out drugs, follow scents to rescue people, take down suspects and still remain a loyal and loving companion to a police officer. K9 Units are crucial to the line of police work and certainly indispensable.

K9 Police training includes detector training of narcotics, explosives, or accelerants; tracking using police style or scent association, area search, which includes building and article searches, handler protection, obedience and K9 care and first aid.
