Idaho State Police has an announcement that’s rarely heard these days: They’re hiring.
ISP will be filling 15 currently vacant positions.
The competition is fierce – nearly 1,000 candidates are expected to apply.
“It is not a job you take because you are unemployed. This is a very demanding job. It’s not for everyone,” said Captain Brian Zimmerman.
The hiring process takes six to seven months to complete. It includes extensive background checks and physical and psychological exams.
They’ll be accepting applications until November 21.
What’s planned
Department officials said they need:
Five police officers to attend the police academy and join the city’s force of 127 officers.
Four dispatchers to work in the communications unit, receiving and processing calls for assistance.
One non-sworn community service officer to work the department’s front desk, taking reports, directing traffic and fielding questions from the public.
