  • No felony conviction
  • Valid driver’s license with no past suspensions
  • Clean credit history
  • Satisfactory score on the police written exam

Out of all the requirements above the number one thing that you should make a priority is the police oral board interview. The oral interview will determine if you are offered the job or not. You see the hiring panel put more emphasis on how well you answer the scenario base questions than anything else. Of course you’ll still need to meet all of the requirements above before getting to the interview. But once you get there the oral exam is the key to getting hired as well as your performance on the chief face-to-face meeting.

There you have the requirements needed to become a police officer.

In conclusion, if you want to become a police officer as quickly as possible the only thing you need to worry about is getting a top score on the Oral Board Interview. Luckily getting a top score on the oral exam is not as difficult as you think if you discover exactly what the board members are going to ask you.
